Health Guarantee
To the breeder’s knowledge, at time of pickup or delivery, kitten is deemed healthy. Buyer will have kitten examined by a licensed veterinarian within 72 (business) hours of pickup or delivery. If the buyer fails to complete this mandatory exam, this contract and health guarantee will be voided. Prior to exam, kitten needs to be quarantined from other animals within the household. Failure to quarantine prior to exam, will void contract and health guarantee. The buyer must provide breeder written proof, completed by a licensed veterinarian, any life threatening health issues, within 24 hours of initial exam. If proof of a life threatening issue is received, the kitten will be replaced by one of the same quality and value, as soon as one becomes available. Once the kitten has left the breeder, all costs incurred by veterinary care, is the sole responsibility of the buyer.
This kitten is guaranteed against fatal genetic defects for 1 year. Fatal genetics include and are limited to genetic conditions of the heart, eye, liver, and/or kidneys. If any genetic defect results in death of the kitten within the first year of life, kitten will by replaced by one of the same quality and value as soon as one becomes available. The replacement kitten will only be given if a necropsy has been performed and a signed certificate from a licensed vet is provided as proof of cause of death. The cost of the necropsy will be the responsibility of the buyer.
Administering the feline leukemia vaccine will void the health guarantee. Recent research has shown that the feline leukemia vaccine is ineffective and may cause a cat who receives this, to contract the disease. All kittens will go home with age appropriate de-wormings and vaccinations. PKD testing and FELV testing should be completed annually.
Your kitten must be altered prior to 1 year of age (with recommendation being 6 months). This is for the safety and health of your kitten. There are risks associated with keeping a pet cat intact including territorial marking, pyometra, hormonal aggression, and a desire to wander. Breeder reserves the right to spay/neuter any pet kitten prior to leaving.
Buyer agrees to provide and loving and safe environment including human attention, toys, exercise, and continued vet care for the kitten’s lifetime. If the kitten is found to be neglected or mistreated at any time, breeder reserves the full right to repossess the kitten without refund or replacement.
If the buyer can no longer keep the kitten, they will contact the breeder prior to rehoming. The breeder will always be willing to take the kitten back into their care without refund or replacement, if the buyer decides to surrender the kitten by choice. The kitten will not be euthanized for any reason other than terminal illness or injuries deemed appropriate by a licensed veterinarian. The kitten will never be given or sold to an animal shelter, pet store, cat flipper, research facility or donated while living, for any reason.
Declawing will void the health guarantee. As the buyer, it is your choice to make an educated decision on declawing. It is the buyer’s responsibility to acknowledge possible health and behavioral issues that declawing can cause. Please look into detailed information about the surgery prior to choosing this option. This breeder does recommend against declawing. “Soft Paws” nail caps and/or designated scratching posts are preferred methods for the kitten to fulfill this natural drive.
